Omotesando Koffee London designed by Laboratorio di Idee + Perinelli Design, melds traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary minimalism, creating an intimate coffee experience in the heart of London’s West End.

The design of the London outlet reflects a deep reverence for Japanese design principles, such as symmetry, proportion, and material honesty. Intricately crafted timber screens and panels frame the coffee cube, creating a layered, textured composition that extends the visual reach of the interior to the street outside. This thoughtful interplay between interior and exterior is enhanced by the use of traditional materials, such as charred cedar boards and granite stepping stones, which evoke the entry courtyard of a traditional Japanese house. Inside, the warm tones of natural ash wood and ash wood veneer foster a serene, inviting environment, offering a unique and intimate coffee experience.

Life Inside A Cottage

When co-authors Nell Card and Rachel Vere began working on their new book, Life Inside a Cottage, they were certain of one thing: it wouldn’t be an architectural guide, or an attempt to define what a cottage actually is. What followed was a process of gathering - reaching out to friends, photographers and other creatives in the industry, asking what they had seen, what had stayed with them, and what they felt worth sharing. As the material came together a pattern began to emerge, not in the form of architectural features, but in something far less tangible.
