Pod Hotel, Miami, Florida

The Pod Hotel is a two story, 10,000 square foot hostel that will feature 216 beds encapsulated within an array of 20 modular 40’ long containers. A dynamic bar / cafe and community gathering space will anchor the project. This exciting new hotel concept in will be located in the MiMo district in Miami.

Infill Urbanism - Portland

Side yard, is a five-story urban infill mixed-use property that features a cross laminated timber (CLT) pre-fabricated structural system with open level retail environments and office space on the floors above. Mass timber components are also integrated in the fire exit, acting as communicating stairs for tenants. Mass plywood is utilized for the interior stair structure, landings and treads. The understated building exterior is wrapped in simple brick masonry, with emphasis placed on interior design and occupant experience.

Designer Spotlight - Letraset

Here is a throwback to the dry rub-down transfer technique that inspired the transferable figures that were a popular addition to cereal boxes in the 1980s and early 90’s. Seeing a decline in the sales of its materials in the early 1990s, Letraset moved into the desktop publishing industry, releasing software packages such as ImageStudio and ColorStudio for the Macintosh. These never saw widespread success. However, as Letraset held the rights to their fonts that had been popular on the dry transfer sheets, it made sense to enter the digital font market. Fast forward to 2021, Instantlettering has created an database of Letraset’s analogue typeface format with the goal to educate and promote the fascination of the now obsolete technology of dry rub transfers.

A freestanding, unreinforced pedestrian bridge built from 53 3D-printed concrete blocks is now open for leisurely foot traffic in Venice.

World’s first 3D-printed steel footbridge installed in Amsterdam

The world’s first 3D-printed steel footbridge has been installed in Amsterdam. Created by Dutch company MX3D, the bridge measures 40 feet (12 meters) in length and contains 4.5 tons of stainless steel forming a curved, flowing structure.

BIG's 3D-printed Mars simulation habitat is taking shape
