Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort

Overview

Located along Fort Lauderdale’s Galt Ocean Mile, the Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort is a comprehensive renovation and repositioning of an existing beachfront property into a contemporary coastal destination centered on wellness, social connection, and relaxed luxury.

Existing Conditions & Vision

The existing hotel structure—defined by a mid-century tower, expansive surface parking, and underutilized ground-level amenities—presented an opportunity to reimagine the guest experience from arrival to rooftop. While the building’s scale and oceanfront presence remain strong, its public spaces, food and beverage offerings, and outdoor amenities lacked cohesion and a clear identity.

Our design transforms the property into a layered resort experience, activating every level of the site while reinforcing a unified architectural and material language inspired by tropical modernism, mediterranean materials and textures, enhanced through indoor–outdoor living concepts.

Arrival & Porte Cochere

The arrival sequence is redefined through a newly designed porte cochere, creating a shaded, welcoming threshold that signals the resort’s new identity. Warm wood ceilings, integrated landscape, and filtered daylight establish an immediate sense of serenity, transitioning guests seamlessly from the city to the tranquility of the coast.

Lobby & Reception

The lobby and reception areas are completely reimagined as a relaxed yet refined social hub. Sculptural reception desks, textured wall surfaces, and curated lighting create a warm, tactile environment. Indoor planting and visual connections to exterior terraces blur the boundary between inside and out, reinforcing the resort atmosphere from the moment guests arrive.

Food & Beverage Experiences

Food and beverage spaces anchor the ground floor and rooftop, forming the social nexus of the resort.

The Main Restaurant & Bar is designed as an open, inviting space with layered seating options, natural materials, and visual transparency to the adjacent outdoor terraces.

The Restaurant Terrace extends the dining options outdoors with shaded seating and ocean-adjacent views.

Café & Lounge Areas are casual, flexible spaces for daytime use, informal meetings, and guest gathering, ideal for the modern business traveler and digital nomad.

The Ballroom and Conference areas are conceived as hybrid, flexible spaces, enhanced with warm finishes and lounge-style seating to support a diverse range of events.

Pool Deck & Outdoor Amenities

The resort’s outdoor areas are restructured into a multi-zone pool deck experience, including two distinct pools, cabana seating, loungers and daybeds, poolside bar and lounge areas. All lounge areas have been carefully planned to reconnect hotel guests to the shoreline.

The exterior spaces are designed to accommodate both active daytime use and relaxed evening atmospheres, with careful attention to shade, circulation, and coastal sight lines.

Wellness & Fitness

A dedicated spa and gym level introduces a new health and wellness focus to the property. Program elements include a Spa lobby, treatment areas and locker rooms, The gym facility is oriented toward the East and West. A West facing Yoga and Pilates outdoor sun terrace with intensive landscape features promote recovery and relaxation. All wellness and fitness spaces prioritize natural light, privacy and material warmth to support a holistic guest experience.

Sky Bar & Rooftop Experience

At the upper levels, a sky bar and rooftop lounge become a signature destination. The design emphasizes openness, views, and social energy, with seating zones, bar areas, and pool-adjacent lounging that capitalize on panoramic ocean vistas.

Private Terraces & Sky Villas

Select upper-level guest accommodations feature private terraces, conceived as Sky Villas that introduce a premium residential-style offering with enhanced privacy and outdoor living—expanding the hotel’s market reach and length-of-stay potential.

A Cohesive Resort Identity

Through coordinated architectural interventions, interior design concepts, and landscape integration, the Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort is repositioned as a contemporary coastal retreat that is socially immersive and distinctly connected to its tropical environment and local community.
